Intensive Ballet Summer School
Carlos Acosta invites you to his very first exclusive intensive ballet summer school in Havana, where students will learn from some of Cuba's finest ballet tutors, have the chance to perform in one of Cuba's most beloved theatres and gain advice from Acosta himself.
During the intensive training course, students will learn ballet techniques incorporating innovative dance elements rooted in Cuba's original ballet methods. The programme will culminate with three shows in the prestigious Teatro Nacional de Cuba, featuring performances by Acosta Danza's principal dancers.
Students of mixed abilities (beginner, intermediate and advanced) are invited to train at the Carlos Acosta Dance Academy, and have the chance, as part of an immersive training program, to rehearse Acosta's choreography to the Don Quixote Suite, with Acosta himself on hand to provide feedback.
Students will learn from teachers at the Acosta Danza company and Acosta Danza academy, including Yaday Ponce (former principal dancer of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba), Clotilde Peón (former solist of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba), Ernesto Alvares (former principal dancer of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba), Aymara Vasallo (former first solist of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba) and Veronica Corveas (former principal dancer of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba).
Accommodation
Accommodation and meals will be provided at Casa Pedro-María, a boutique hotel in the heart of Havana's Old Town.
Additional Activities
Students will also have the opportunity to take part in social and cultural activities across Havana.
The Acosta Danza Summer School was originally planned for August 2020, but was postponed due to uncertainties around coronavirus. We will be announcing details for our first edition, to take place in 2021, in due course.
